FX stability is important - Japan's Suga

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga is hitting the wires with comments following the Yen's moves on the heels of rising trade war fears from tit-for-tat tariff threats from US president Trump and China.

Suga is speaking publicly, voicing the Japanese government's concerns that FX stability is at risk from trade war fears, and that the Japanese will be watching FX markets with a "sense of urgency", and Suga has stopped just short of outright blaming Donald Trump for the Yen's recent gains, which threatens to undermine Japan's fledgling inflation numbers.
