BoE's Weale says rate hike could come next spring
FXStreet (Łódź) - BoE Monetary Policy Committee member Martin Weale suggested on Thursday that the first interest rate hike could take place in the spring of 2015.
Speaking in an interview for Sky News the BoE policymaker said: "I think it is very helpful that we try and explain the most likely path for interest rates is that the first rise will come perhaps in the spring of next year, and then the path is likely to be relatively gradual."
His comments pushed the prices of UK government bonds down while the pound rose to 1.6678.
