USD/CAD in fresh cycle highs above 1.30
FXStreet (Edinburgh) - The greenback is appreciating further vs. its Canadian counterpart on Friday, pushing USD/CAD to the 1.3005/10 band.
USD/CAD stronger on US data
The pair has spiked to fresh peaks near 1.3010 following the results of the US docket, where inflation figures during June matched expectations. On the brighter side, Housing Starts and Building Permits have surpassed the previous consensus.
On the Canadian side, consumer prices rose 0.2% on a monthly basis vs. forecasts for a 0.3% advance while Core prices tracked by the BoC expanded 2.3% on a year to June, bettering expectations.
USD/CAD key levels
At the moment the pair is up 0.28% at 1.2994 with the next hurdle at 1.3009 (2015 high Jul.17). On the downside, a break below 1.2805 (high Jul.14) would expose 1.2728 (low Jul.15) and finally 1.2683 (low Jul.13).
