Key Quotes

“Today sees the long awaited meeting of EU leaders in Riga, not because of the official agenda –partnership with Eastern Europe– but because the Greek PM Tsipras will use the venue to try once again to strike a deal with his European creditors.”

“Both Merkel and Hollande have indicated that they would like to speed up negotiations with Tsipras’ team, but they appear to have made little progress in their “friendly and constructive meeting” after dinner yesterday. “Greek officials themselves already signalled last week they expected a deal “within a week”, they are now looking for a conclusion of talks “within the next ten days”, according to Reuters.”
