Japan: No change in household expected inflation - Nomura

FXStreet (Bali) - There was no change in the Japanese household expected inflation according to the latest BOJ’s Survey, notes Nomura.

Key Quotes

"The BOJ’s March Opinion Survey on the General Public’s Views and Behavior showed no change in expected inflation. The figures for prices 1 year ahead and 5 years ahead (y-y growth, average) were unchanged from the December survey at +4.8% and +4.0% respectively."

"Household expected inflation rates tend to largely reflect the prices of items purchased frequently. We think these inflationary expectations strongly reflect the impact of the ongoing rises in food prices. Energy prices have fallen, but this had only a limited downward impact on household expected inflation rates."
