FTSE trades slightly higher

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The UK equity index, Ftse, is being pushed higher today by the Financial stocks, although broader gains in the index remain capped due to weakness in the other sector stocks.

The Ftse traded at 0.31% higher at 6631.5 levels at the time of writing, compared to the previous session’s close of 6611.04 levels. The index breadth is positive with an advance decline ratio of 82:18. Shares in satellite broadcaster BskyB are down 1.29% after going ex-dividend. Meanwhile, shares in Brewer Sabmiller rose 1.69% after reporting a slight rise in profits. The Outsourcer Capita is down 1.6%, taking the cumulative losses to 8% since it reported results on Wednesday. The index top performers include shares in Morrison, and Hargreaves Lansdown.

Ftse Technical Levels

The index has an immediate resistance located at 6635 (100 SMA), above which the prices can rise to 6690 levels. On the flip side, a break below 6605, shall open doors for 6560 levels on the downside.

The Thomson Reuters Team reports an-on-year rise of 21 percent in the average daily volume (ADV) of foreign exchange trading across Thomson Reuters platforms in October, totalling $373.7bn.
